Ahrend's Critter Friends
Animals play a vital part in Believer Poet’s life. Ahrend views animals as representatives of God, and finds peace when in their presents. According to this poet, “animals are free from judgment, hatred, and ridicule.” Ahrend considers all animals as lifelong friends.

Animals help to relieve Believer Poet from the daily stresses of life, and they aid him in coping with those who don’t understand him or his mission. Ahrend believes that animals understand him, and they express the endless love of God, as revealed through Jesus Christ.

Ahrend has always held a strong affinity for animals. As a child he created an animal farm menagerie, which grew to hundreds of animals. Still today, Ahrend has a wide assortment of critters. They live in abundance at his Poet Shack in rural Mississippi.

The Poet Shack is home for a variety of animals. Ahrend has ducks, a goose, a pig, chickens, doves, dogs, cats, and guineas. He also draws in wild birds through various feeders. According to Ahrend, “The animals create a harmonious spirit around the Shack.” Ahrend enjoys feeding his animals during the early mornings. He discovers the spirit of God resting within the serenity of these moments.
